Cherry Tree Beach. Corfu!

Kerasia. It means ‘Cherry tree’ in Greek.

I walked up into the olive grove, and sat down to sketch looking down over the beach. Such a beautiful peaceful place. It is impossible to do justice to the sparkling water shimmering like jewels, the dark trunks of the old gnarled olive trees with their soft grey green little leaves, the pinky sandy path scattered with small stones. But I must try! I have stuck little pieces of watercolour paper onto some of the blank pages of this sketchbook as I don’t really like the very bright white cartridge paper. You can see the edges!

Kerasia, from the sea!

Kerasia, from the sea!

This sketch was made sitting on a rock in the sea! Using the sea water to paint with.
