I just got back from a trip to Williamsburg, NY, to see my niece and her baby boy. I often took him out, both of us wrapped up like eskimo’s against the bitter cold. We went back to the little park I had found last summer, right by the East River, overlooking the spectacular skyline of Manhattan. One day, having done a quick pen sketch I got the watercolours out, but as you can see only did a few blobs before the cold got to me! It was interesting to see the iconic shapes of the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings in the distance viewed through the tattered wire fence and long grasses. Lots of little sparrows flitting around me, feeding on some sort of weed on the rocks by the water.
