Acorns and Conkers

It is late September and the leaves are beginning to turn yellow, gold, red and brown. I love this time of year when there is still some warmth in the sun and the autumn flowers are tall and straggly. I have walked over to Ellenbrook Fields, the old Hatfield Aerodrome. It is lovely and peaceful there, little oak trees and wild michaelmas daisy’s growing in the long grass. Rabbits in the briar patches! Sometime soon it is all to be dug up as a gravel pit and the trees and flowers will be gone. I have brought a few acorns home. Maybe I can grow a little oak tree and plant it somewhere!

I found some conkers too, and dug out a sketch of them I did a long time ago.

[Here’s one I did earlier!]
