Went to the lavender field near Hitchen today and took a new small sketchbook. A glorious day to walk between the rows of lavender and then get lost in the sunflower jungle. I love sunflowers, they seem to have individual characters, huge ones with big heavy heads full of seeds, and every size in between to the tiniest little one. It was wonderful to sit amongst them, the thick leaves rustling. The ground is scattered with yellow as the petals fall. The sky is dazzling blue swept with wisps of clouds. There are swallows sitting on a fence, amazing to think of the long journey they will soon undertake.
